Crying over spilt milk won’t put the milk back into the pitcher.

– Deepak Paul

We have all spilt our milk and continue to whine over it, knowing fully that no whining is going to put the milk back into the pitcher. So what else can we do about it besides whining? Well, why don’t we find out by delving into our topic for today — Spilt milk!

Let’s analyze this iconic scene from an Indian movie called “Anbe Sivam”.

The lady had apparently, prepared a fruit dish and is bringing it to serve to the guests. On her way to the dining table, she spills the dish by accident and is frustrated.

The hero, the man wearing the beige shirt, now tells the heroine, “Don’t worry, accidents happen”. This doesn’t seem to console the lady one bit and she continues to whine.

The hero, being a street artist and painter, takes a closer look at the spilt dish and sees the art hiding beneath. The hero plays around with it for a while and turns the mess into a piece of art. Later on, in the movie, the digital version of the artwork is sold by the heroine and she gets a 10% cut on it. It’s her fruit dish after all.

Like the heroine from the movie, we all whine over spilt milk but fail to see the opportunity hiding behind. Life is like a painting, the mistakes you make are as much a part of the painting as the painting itself. Therefore, looking at things from the perspective of an artist will force us to approach these blunders as opportunities to improvise and workaround. Please remember the painting still needs to be completed for public consumption, so let’s quit whining over our shortcomings, and strive hard to turn our life, our one and only painting into a masterpiece!
